Organization and planning

Resources, templates, and tips for virtual learners

How to stay on track with virtual learning

If this is your first time as a virtual student, you might find yourself struggling to organize your days. This leads to students falling behind and feeling frustrated with their online learning experience.

Below are some tools that you can print out to plan your days, weeks, or even months! Use one, or use them all!

If you don't have a printer - you can use one at the local library or ask a friend or parent to print a few at work!  On phones and tablets you can use the Write on PDF app and use these digitally! (Editable Google versions will be coming soon!)

Class schedule by semester

STEP 1: Print the form and write in the times of your LIVE instruction.  Highlight or write in color pen so that these times stand out and you remember they are when you have to be on Zoom for class!

STEP 2: Fill in the empty blocks with your classes and you should use that time to work on any assignments or studying for that class.  Write this in pencil so you can change it if you need to.

STEP 3: Revisit this frequently and make changes to your independent learning schedule as you find what works best for you!
IMPORTANT: You should be spending about 90 minutes per day per class (semester courses) or 40 minutes per day per class (year long courses).  So even if you don't meet in person on Monday for your Math class, you should still have some time blocked off to work on Math!

Weekly plan

Start your week on the right foot by sketching out your week on Sunday!  Throughout the week, you can add and edit as you go.  Add tasks to the Assignment Log and check them off as they are completed and submitted!

Daily plan 1

Picture
Sometimes it is helpful to plan out your day from start to finish! Use the "Top Priorities" section for the most important items of the day! The "For Tomorrow" Section is great to remember what didn't get done today so you can add it to your plan for tomorrow!

Daily plan 2

Picture
This is similar to Daily Plan 1, however it breaks your day into 30 minute chunks.  There is no "For Tomorrow" Section, but to help you remember what you didn't finish, draw an → next to any items in the "To Do List" that you didn't finish to remember to transfer them to the next day!
